The kids got SO SO SO sick the last week of August, first week of September. It was some crazy nasty stomach bug and get this... it lasted EIGHT days. EIGHT DAYS!! That is so not acceptable! Especially since Isa got it first, then midway through her's, Hyrum got it... yeah it was like 2 weeks straight of me cleaning up throw up 50 times a day. When they were both at their worst for 3 days they just laid on bed trying to watch cartoons, but just mostly sleeping. I thought one day I would have to take Isa to the hospital for an IV because she was getting so dehydrated, but thankfully she pulled through and drank barely enough fluids to manage. Hyrum would just keep chugging his fluids, throw them up, chug chug, throw up... what a champ :) Isa is definitely more like me- we must be forced fluids!
At least the kids got over this before school started. Isa did so much better this year with her first day than last year. She was excited to see her old friends and teachers. This year has been going so well for her... it feels like she just picked up where she left off. In fact, her teacher told me that they always spend the first 2 weeks orienting the children with what is expected of them, how to treat others, their works, the classroom, etc... and then they start building up to their 3 hour work time and add in their reading/writing packets, etc. Well, after the first day Isa started her packet and full block of work time because she didn't need ANY readjusting to the schedule and work period- her teacher was pretty amazed :) She is reading so well now too. I can't believe how fast she is improving. Hyrum is missing his little partner while she is at school. She's the one that always came up with what to play and he would just follow along. Now he just follows me or my mom around all day while I am at work. He has been keeping pretty busy on the farm though. He helped Grandpa bale up all the straw... and by "helped" I really mean "slept" because the motion of the tractor and the baler would rock him out cold! We start potato harvest next week so he should enjoy learning all about that!
