On Saturday we loaded up and headed to Cave Falls. We love Cave Falls. It is never busy when we go, it is a short ride, you can get right up close to the water, and it is a really easy hike with kids. PERFECT!! Too bad the actual cave is no more- it has completely collapsed! The kids were really excited for the adventure- Isa even had to bring Rupert with us every step of the way. As soon as we entered the forest, Hyrum stopped jabbering and was silent as if in awe of his surroundings- it was pretty funny because he is NEVER quite. We made the short trek down to the waterfall and the kids had a BLAST. Hyrum threw about 673 rocks into the river. I swear he thought it was was his job to pick up every rock and return it to the water. Isabelle did a little of everything- threw rocks, ran around, spent time digging in the sand with a stick, and she even randomly started doing some wacky dance for picture taking. It was pure heaven. The weather was great and everyone was happy :) After an hour or so we went on another hike along the river but the kids were moving slow and it was nearing lunch time so we hi-tailed it out of there and back to Rexburg for lunch at Wingers. I told the kids that if they ate their lunch we could get a piece of their famous Asphault Pie- we had a free coupon so we were gettin one anyway :) Everyone inhaled their food. Then the pie arrived and I have never seen my family take on a dessert like we did that day!! It was massive and soooooo good and the kids were shoveling it in. So was James- hilarious since he said he wasn't going to have any. After we got back home, everyone was tired. The kids rested until bath time and James apparently REALLY needed to work so he took off to our bedroom so he wouldn't be disturbed- I'm sure his computer closed as did his eyes when I left the room ;) Love family days!!
