"Parents must bring light and truth into their homes by one family prayer, one scripture study session, one family home evening, one book read aloud, one song, and one family meal at a time. They know that the influence of righteous, conscientious, persistent, daily parenting is among the most powerful and sustaining forces for good in the world. The health of any society, the happiness of its people, their prosperity, and their peace all find common roots in the teaching of children in the home." - Elder L. Tom Perry

Ward Camp Out

On Friday night we headed to our Ward Camp Out. Dinner started at 6pm, but we eat dinner at 5:30pm so we fed the kids first and then headed out to the camp site. The kids got to eat their dessert right away while everyone else was eating their dinner- they thought that was pretty awesome :) Then, they ran as fast as they could over to the play area. The mosquitoes were SO bad since it was right by the river... which had just flooded a couple weeks ago, but we had plenty of bug spray. Unfortunately, we didn't spray Isa's bum- she was bending over to carve something in the dirt and a nasty skeeter landed on her bum and left a HUGE bite!! Whoops. Guess next time the kiddos will have to bend every which way when we spray them down to ensure we get every square inch! haha! We let them play hard for about 30 minutes, but then we had to head back home to give them baths and get them into bed by 8pm- which you know is late for my kids :) One day we might actually camp over night with the rest of the ward, but I just can't seem to muster up the energy it would require to pack everything we would need for an overnight camping trip. So far, I only make the effort for LONG trips :) I had to get home anyhow and get the house cleaned and make some food for family that was arriving the next day!! Enjoy all the pics- James actually offered to take the pics for me this time since I am ALWAYS doing it!

wow, James is looking a little scruffy! the pic of the two of you together is cute : ) I almost felt bad about not going to the camp out, but then i saw poor jazzy just plastered with mosquito bites, and brigham was covered, miriam and shay are covered, and poor Isa's bum! i can only imagine what courtney would look like and how miserable we would all be because of it!
