"Parents must bring light and truth into their homes by one family prayer, one scripture study session, one family home evening, one book read aloud, one song, and one family meal at a time. They know that the influence of righteous, conscientious, persistent, daily parenting is among the most powerful and sustaining forces for good in the world. The health of any society, the happiness of its people, their prosperity, and their peace all find common roots in the teaching of children in the home." - Elder L. Tom Perry

Isabelle's Birthday Party!

On Sunday we celebrated Isa's 2nd birthday- a little early, but we are in grain harvest here so the only way all our family could attend was to have it on Sunday! We had a "barnyard" theme... which was perfect since Isabelle is going through this stage of LOVING all animals. My mom helped a lot with the food and we had the party out on her porch- which was so nice because I am overly exhausted, always in pain, and blah blah blah... from this pregnancy :) I made Isa a cute barnyard cake, James grilled hamburgers and chicken, my mom made potato salad and apple-snickers salad. Everyone was able to make it to the party and we had a great time! Isabelle kept asking me for her presents and I had to keep making her wait until it was time to open them. She was sooooo shy and timid around everyone... it was actually kind of nice because it gave me a nice rest from chasing her everywhere :) My mom made the mistake of letting Isa open up her new doll present very first, so Isa didn't want to open anything else after that! It took forever to get through all her gifts because she kept wanting to play with her new doll, which by the way she has now named Cindy. She received A LOT of clothes, which I am so grateful for! Her closet was practically bare... well... basically it was full of pants that were too short and shirts that were too tight :) Thanks to all our awesome family for Isabelle's presents!
